We studied Surat Al-Hasher (The Gathering) Ayat 8-10,

(8) For the poor emigrants who were expelled from their homes and their properties, seeking bounty from Allah and [His] approval and supporting Allah and His Messenger, [there is also a share]. Those are the truthful.
(9) And [also for] those who were settled in al-Madinah and [adopted] the faith before them. They love those who emigrated to them and find not any want in their hearts of what the emigrants were given but give [them] preference over themselves, even though they are in hardship. And whoever is protected from the stinginess of his soul – it is those who will be the successful.
(10) And [there is a share for] those who came after them, saying, “Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful.”

– The non-believers forced the “Muhajeroon” (emigrants from Mecca to Madina) to abandon their homes and wealth to a foreign city and after 4 years many of them remained poor. The “Muhajeroon” did this sacrifice to please Allah SWT.
– We can be “Muhajeroon” by migrating from the comfort zone of conforming to a society’s wicked norms, fashion and behavior to the zone of pleasing Allah SWT even if this makes us subject to ridicule, abuse and discrimination.
– The native Muslims of Madina “Ansar” shared whatever they had even if it was so little to support their Muslim emigrant brothers “Muhajeroon”. They even preferred the “Muhajeroon” over themselves. When Allah decreed certain distribution of wealth to lift the situation of the poor “Muhajeroon”, the Ansar didn’t find any ill feelings toward the “Muhajeroon”.
– We can be Ansar by getting out of our comfort Zone helping others by whatever means or abilities we have.
– The test of truthfulness in Iman, is not having any resentment toward those who live their life in conformity to Islamic believes. By being “Muhajeroon” and Ansar, we may be deserving of Allah’s kindness and mercy.
